Jummah Under the Sun

The sun smiles on the Muslim Student Association (MSA) Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 as they come together for their Friday prayer, or Jummah. After a week of grey skies and cold weather Jummah Under the Sun is actually in the sun.

Fridays are the Islamic holy day of the week. This means Muslims usually gather in a Mosque to pray and listen to the Imam. Once every semester though the MSA at SF State likes to switch it up and have their ceremony outside on the quad.

For this installment they have over Imam Amir Abdul Malik. A graduate of SF State and currently associated with the Masjid Al Islam mosque in Oakland. He leads the attendees in prayer and gives a passionate sermon to the worshippers, some of whom are visiting the campus just for this service.
